Named by The Los Angeles Times as “the standard by which all other quartets must be judged,” the Juilliard String Quartet celebrated its 60th anniversary season in 2006-07. In 2007-08, the Quartet observed the 100th birthday of Elliott Carter, the American composer with whom the Quartet has long been associated. The Juilliard’s performing repertoire and Grammy Award-winning recordings cover a staggering range of music. The ensemble is Quartet-in-Residence at New York’s Juilliard School of Music.

The Juilliard Quartet members are Joel Smirnoff, violin; Ronald Copes, violin; Samuel Rhodes, viola; and Joel Krosnick, cello.
