"The Juilliard maintains its risk-taking approach, as well as its uncommon intensity, keen absorption and singleness of purpose during each piece..." - Washington Post

Igor Stravinsky: Three Pieces for String Quartet (1914, rev. 1918)
Leos Janacek: Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata”
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: String Quartet in A Major, K. 464

The most long-lived of all U.S. chamber music ensembles, the Juilliard String Quartet is celebrating its 60th year. Quartet-in-Residence at New York City's Juilliard School, it was instrumental in the formation of the Alexander, American, Concord, Emerson, La Salle, New World, Mendelssohn, Tokyo, Brentano, Lark, St. Lawrence, Shanghai, Colorado and Afiara string quartets, two of which will perform on our 2011-12 series. The Quartet has premiered more than 60 compositions of American composers. In 2011, it received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
