Founded in 1977, the Los Angeles Piano Quartet has toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe, including three performances at the Concertgebouw. The Quartet has had many works written for it, including Steven Stucky’s Piano Quartet, which it premiered in 2005. Its recordings include the Faure Piano Quartet to be performed on this program. Steven Stucky is consulting composer to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In addition to the LAPQ, his works have been premiered by artists including the New York Philharmonic and Emmanuel Ax. His compositions are available on Deutsche Grammophon, Telarc and Chandos, among others.
