Founded in 2001, the Weiss Kaplan Newman Piano Trio is comprised of three great soloists. The Washington Post hailed Yael Weiss for her “consummate artistry”. Praised by London’s The Strad for “a gripping performance of ever-increasing lyrical intensity", Mark Kaplan has been a soloist with the world’s major symphonies including Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and New York under the world’s great conductors. Clancy Newman won first prize at the 2001 Walter W. Naumburg International Competition and received the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2004. The Strad called him “an exceptional cellist.” Weiss and Kaplan are on the Indiana University School of Music faculty.
