Class is in session

The University of Cincinnati began classes yesterday, and yes, all roads leading to UC were gridlock… On Tuesday night in the Baur Room at the College-Conservatory of Music, an overflow crowd welcomed the new dean of CCM, Peter Landgren. I think he successfully shook nearly every hand in the room — and they belonged to faculty members, longtime CCM supporters, a few press and CCM staff. Dean Landgren, who is a CCM graduate, spoke about his passion for the school and said that this year will be one of listening. The Dean’s office has been a revolving door over the years, and faculty members seemed genuinely thrilled that he was selected. Also in the crowd: UC Provost Santa Ono. Afterwards, they all went to Corbett Auditorium to hear the esteemed Juilliard Quartet, which had a crowd of more than 500 fans.
